We sit down with David Shim, Co-Founder and CEO at Read AI, who takes us through his journey founding businesses that solve problems. David unpacks the challenges of being a founder, the advantages of user interaction, and the most important voices to listen to as a product leader to pivot and find product-market fit.
Key talking points:
- The power of pulling off the “product-decision bandaid” all the way.
- What is bad product-market fit and how to spot it.
- When to go free with a go-to-market strategy.
- Why you should stop waiting until you have the perfect product.
- The importance of fitting the right product to the consumer.
A little bit about the guest
David co-founded Read AI, the company on a mission to make every human interaction meaningfully better, smarter and happier - starting with the over 500 million people that video conference on a daily basis.
Prior to Read, David was the CEO of FourSquare, the location layer of the internet, and while he was there the company exceeded $150 million in annual revenue and profitability. The company also acquired its two largest competitors, Placed and Factual, to create the de facto leader in location.
David joined FourSquare through Snapchat, which had acquired his first startup, Placed, for more than $175 million in 2019.
This episode was also special because it marked the first time the product itself actually joined in on the session. The Read AI Dashboard was a part of the recording too and we thought we’d capture this special moment. 👇
Thankfully, the pod session got an overall green score of engagement - nice one Read AI! 👌
